Unlock the secrets behind the soulful melodies and the rich traditions of Eastern Mediterranean music. Whether you are a beginner taking your first steps or an experienced player seeking to deepen your understanding, our specialized Music Theory lessons are designed to connect directly with the music you love.

Guided by our Bouzouki teacher Giannis Leloudas, these classes move beyond standard Western theory to focus on the authentic scales, modes, and structures that define Rebetiko and Greek folk styles. We believe that theory should serve the music, helping you play with greater feeling, precision, and creativity.

What You Will Explore:

• The Heart of the Sound: Understand the unique intervals that give Rebetiko its distinct emotional depth.

• Eastern Modes (Dromoi): Dive deep into the Greek modes, their melodic contours, harmonic flavors, and how they shape the mood of traditional songs.

• Chordal Foundations: Learn to build and analyze chords, especially suited for the Bouzouki, Baglamas and Guitar in a folk context.

• From Page to Performance: Practical exercises designed to train your ear, improve your improvisation, and help you interpret traditional tunes with authenticity.

• Composition & Improvisation: Discover how to apply theoretical concepts to create your own variations and compose in the true spirit of the genre.

Every lesson is tailored to your individual level and goals. We bridge the gap between abstract concepts and the real music you hear in your favorite concerts or on classic recordings. Whether you wish to master the art of improvisation, understand the theory behind the songs you like, or simply appreciate the beauty of Greek folk music more deeply, we are here to guide you with patience and passion.

For this class the option of a private or a duo lesson is offered.

Lessons are given in Greek or English.
